Nice post. I particularly like the Email Standards Project site as a helpful resource for design and their grassroots effort to try and bring standardization in the email space.

I would prefer the Chris O' version as well for protection reasons. :)

The EmailCOMPASS was a valuable asset to the reformation of our email program. I did a little post on it here - http://neilminetto.com/2009/05/15/email-marketing-reformation/, what do you think?

I'm there for the sidekick thing, but I want to be the ripped Robin like Chris O'Donnell, not the puny guy from the original TV show. Deal?

Neil-

Thanks for your positive comments on the Costco email review. I think that some retailers fall into some pretty bad habits when it comes to email marketing. It's very easy to get caught up in these tough economic times and make rash decisions like mailing too often, or in Costco's case, lack of focus and direction.

Also, appreciate the kudos on the EmailCOMPASS - I think it offers some great insights into email marketing and highlighting areas that need improvement.

Always in need of a sidekick... A dynamic duo like Batman and Robin.

Drew, great review here. I think that all too often we fall into the trap of putting our print pieces into email and sending them out. That is clearly what Costco is doing here. Your review is right on.

I loved the email review you did for Symetra. I recommend it to anyone looking for a great in depth analysis of their emails. You provided so very valuable insight.

So where do I sign up to be your sidekick and help you review emails?
